Born October 5, 1949 in Tokyo. After graduating from the School of Law at Waseda University in April 1973, he joined Kyodo News. He worked as the head of the politics section, vice chairman of the Editorial Writing Committee and member of the Editorial Board, and then as the editor-in-chief before retiring in October 2007. He has since worked as a television commentator, and his popular “Nagatacho Live” is published in Diamond Weekly.
