This Privacy Policy (English translation version) is provided for convenience only, and the Japanese version of this Privacy Policy governs our relationship with you. If there is any inconsistency or conflict between the Japanese and English versions, the Japanese version shall prevail.
Personal information for the purpose of press and writing
Diamond, Inc. (hereinafter referred to as “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and retains a lot of personal information in its activities as a press and organ of public opinion. A Japanese law, “Act on the Protection of Personal Information” (2003, Act No.57, hereinafter referred to as “Personal Information Protection Law” or “PIPL”) sets forth that its Chapter 4 articulating the obligations of Personal Information Handling Business Operator (PIHBO) shall not be applied to personal information to be used for the purposes of “press” or “writing.” On the other hand, the same article also sets forth that even in those exempted fields, PIHBO should voluntarily strive to take necessary measures for ensuring appropriate handling of personal information and announce such measures. We promise appropriate handling of personal information we retain through our independent and voluntary efforts while firmly maintaining the freedom of press and expression.

We fully recognize the importance of privacy and pay utmost attention in handling it. For that reason, we have established the following Privacy Policy to define how we collect, use, disclose, transfer, and store your information and handle it appropriately.
What information we collect and how we collect it
We collect the following information about you within the scope of the purposes as set forth in “How we use the collected information” such as providing the service and communicating with you.
Information we directly collect from you
We may ask you to provide the following information when you register to the service we provide (hereinafter our “Service”).

When you access our Service, we collect and analyze the access data including the reference date and time and URLs that referred you to our site, and use them to provide behavioral targeting advertising.

Disclosure of personal information to third parties
Without your prior consent, we will not disclose your personal information to third parties except in the following cases.
- (1) When disclosure is required by law or regulation.
- (2) When disclosure is required for the life or physical safety of a person or protection of property, and it is difficult to obtain the data subject’s consent.
- (3) When disclosure is specifically required for the enhancement of public health or healthy development of children, and it is difficult to obtain the data subject’s consent.
- (4) When disclosure is required to cooperate with a national or local government or its designee in executing affairs prescribed by laws and regulations, and obtaining the consent of the data subject is likely to impede the execution of such affairs.
- (5) When it is disclosed pursuant to the opt-out procedure which has been filed with Personal Information Protection Commission in advance.

We take reasonable administrative, technical, and physical measures in order to avoid loss, theft, misuse, unauthorized access, disclosure, tampering and destruction of your personal information. In order to ensure the safety of your personal information, we inform our employees about the privacy and security guidelines and ensure the implementation of privacy protection measures within our company.
Access to personal information
We make commercially reasonable efforts to provide you with access to your personal information so that you can make a request to correct inaccurate data or to delete your data, unless we retain such data for legal compliance or for our legitimate business interest.
And when the information is incorrect, we make sincere efforts to promptly provide you with the means to update it or delete it. However, this will not apply when we need to keep such information for our legitimate business interest or for legal compliance. Please note that we may ask you to verify your identity before we respond to your request.
We may decline requests that are; unreasonably repeated; require undue technical efforts; may infringe others’ privacy: are extraordinarily unrealistic; or not specifically requested by the applicable law for such access.
Destruction of collected information
We will destroy the personal information we collect when it is reasonably determined that such information is not necessary for our ordinary business operations.
