Nomura Research Institute, executive economist. After joining Nomura Research Institute in 1987, Takahide Kiuchi was assigned to the Economic Research Department of the Japan Economic Research Office in Tokyo, where he has worked as an economist ever since. In 1990, he also joined Nomura Research Institute Germany in Frankfurt, and in 1996, Nomura Research Institute USA in New York, where he was in charge of economic analysis of Europe and the United States, respectively. In 2004, he moved to Nomura Securities as head of economic research, and he became chief economist in 2007, a position where he was responsible for forecasting the Japanese economy under the global research system. In 2012, he was appointed by the Cabinet to be a member of the Bank of Japan Policy Board, the central bank's highest decision-making body, where he was responsible for monetary policy and other operations for five years. He has been in his present position since July 2017. He has written multiple books about monetary policy and economic affairs.
