Chief market economist at Mizuho Bank. After joining the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), he was seconded to the Japan Center for Economic Research and the Directorate-General for Economic and Financial Affairs of the European Commission in Belgium. He joined Mizuho Corporate Bank (now Mizuho Bank) in October 2008. During his time at the European Commission, he was the only Japanese economist to work on the preparation of the EU economic outlook.
